András Péter Sztáray

State Secretary for Security Policy of Hungary

He earned his law degree from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at Eötvös Loránd University in 1993. Between 1993 and 1994, he pursued studies at the Vienna Diplomatic Academy. From 1996 to 2000, he served as an assigned diplomat at Hungary's Permanent Delegation to NATO in Brussels. Starting in 2000, he worked for two years as Deputy Head of the Western Europe Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in 2002, he was appointed Head of the Americas Department. Between 2002 and 2003, he worked as Head of the NATO Department. From 2003, he served for four years as Deputy Permanent Representative of Hungary to NATO in Brussels. Between 2007 and 2009, he was appointed Deputy Director for Security Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serving as Deputy Head of Department. From 2009, he held the position of Director for Security Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for one year. From 2010 to 2013, he was appointed Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy State Secretary. From 2013, he served for five years as Hungary’s Permanent Representative to NATO in Brussels. Since June 23, 2018, he has been the State Secretary for Security Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
