Matúš Šutaj Eštok

Minister of Interior of Slovakia

Matúš Šutaj Eštok is a lawyer and politician currently serving as the Minister of the Interior of Slovakia. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Comenius University in 2011. After obtaining his degree, he held various positions in public administration and later became the head of the Government Office during the tenure of Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini.

He won his first parliamentary mandate in 2020 as a member of the Smer-SD party. Shortly after the elections, he left the party along with Peter Pellegrini and participated in the founding of Hlas-SD. In 2023, he was elected to the Slovak National Council under the banner of the new party. Following coalition negotiations, he became the Minister of the Interior in Robert Fico's fourth government.

In June 2024, he was elected chairman of the Hlas-SD party at its party congress.
